More scrappy fun!

Last week you may remember I finished my scrappy quilt... well I decided I wasn't happy with just sewing the binding on the back by hand, because I think this quilt will get a LOT of use. So I have spent some time sewing a decorative wavy rick rack stitch around the border to reinforce the hand stitching. It blends in well with the FMQing and I should be able to machine wash this quilt to my hearts content now!!

These are the blocks I got sewn in the Bonnie Hunter workshop on Saturday, they are from the Shirttails pattern in her 'Scraps and Shirttails' book. I am loving it so far!

This book finally arrived from Better World Books. I am a teacher and recently I was sub teaching 8th grade math and when I was a little bored I noticed this book on the teachers bookshelf!! It is pretty cool, because it is a math textbook but it also gives brief instructions on making the quilts!! It was written by mathematics teachers who are quilters and use their quilts to inspire their students LOL. I want to make a Fibonacci quilt first.

I have managed to accumulate quite a few leader/ender units lately so I decided yesterday to start making them into four patches and actually see how one of my scrappy leader/ender quilts will look!

This is the top so far:

I decided to make the top more interesting by adding some other blocks so I pulled out my bargain $10 used book store foundation piecing book:

 and made a Santa!

He was made using scraps!

This little bundle was a participant gift from Wooden Spools fabric shop, they hosted the Bonnie Hunter workshop on Saturday, isn't that sweet! The wooden spool got added to my large vase that contains my spool collection and the charm squares have been cut into 2.5" squares to use as scrappy leaders/enders. I have already started sewing those leader/ender squares yesterday whilst I was piecing the Christmas quilt LOL.
