Eye Spy a finish...

I finally made an eye spy quilt after about 8 months of collecting fabrics and cutting them up I finally found some time to put one together. This is an eye spy match quilt, there are two pieces of each of the 70 fabrics so the recipient 5 yr old Jack can try to find the matching pairs:

There's everything from Sir Topham Hat (from Thomas the Tank Engine) to spiders, elephants, money etc

I also had this great jungle print in my stash for the backing, I got it in the material aisle at a local thrift shop last year:

I folded the backing to the front for binding and machine stitched it so it'll  stand up to a child's tough treatment!

Many of the eye spy squares had a dark background such as black so I did straight line quilting either side of the horizontal row joins in black thread and added black borders.

I must make one for me it looks awesome hanging on a quilt rack!

But this one is all wrapped up ready to give to the recipient next week :) I love a finish especially when it is a gift!

Then I went on to echo quilting my Christmas bauble tree quilt, I got it finished, it is in the washing machine now, I will reveal that finish tomorrow!
