Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new block of the month. I've been hosting annual block of the months since 2015! This year we're starting my Australiana Adventures pattern.
You can join the fun, send me a message, there's an email contact link in the left sidebar of this blog. Today I gathered everything I needed and got organised ready to begin.
Background fabric: a Painters Palette solid called Aruba
Feature fabric: a green solid I pulled from stash (not sure which manufacturer or name)
Backing fabric: a cute koala print pulled from my stash
The colours for all the animal blocks will come from my solids scrap basket as much as possible.
Then I started by pattern testing block one a gum leaf. Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia and are the most common tree here. There are many varieties and the leaf colour varies from deep green to sage green.
We'll be making eight of this block and then simply orienting the blocks in different ways to ensure they look like leaves floating to the ground in amongst the animal blocks in the final layout.
