Color Study Series

This plantain flower fell in my garden recently and there was something about the way it landed and caught the light that made me photograph it.
So I chose it for this week's color study because it's an interesting array of colours that I wouldn't initially instinctively put together.
  • Red/maroon petals
  • Pale yellow pollen on the stamens
  • Laying on brown mulch
I imagine that polleny yellow as the background fabric with the red and browns as feature fabrics. Perhaps a pattern something like a flower or large quadrant star with the browns at the centre and red around it.
An Irish chain quilt would also be fabulous with these fabrics! Or Tumbling Blocks!
But my preference with a rich dark palette like this is to team it with a white background fabric so that the rich colors are feature fabrics!
