Doggie Delight

I spent half a day sewing this weekend and this was the delightful sight i walked past each time I moved from my sewing machine to my cutting or ironing benches.


I simply adore my pooch pack.

A Rainbow Scrap Challenge Finish!

During Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017s neutral month I made an improv pieced scrappy star quilt top to use up all my neutral scraps 💖

Today I got it basted!


And I basted 10 other quilts too whilst I was going! I never used to be able to baste that many at once until I bought bed risers for our outdoor table!


Later in the day I got it quilted and bound too 👌



I'm going to keep this quilt and use it as my everyday lap quilt!


But I have tons of charity quilts in amongst that pile of soon to be quilted quilts and most of my Orphan Block Odyssey quilts too, so pop by the blog on the first of August to see how they turn out!

Oops - time to prioritize progress goals

Well... This happened Monday evening


And of course it's my stitching pedal foot! Just a hairline fracture so should be okay in two weeks.

So I did tidy up my sewing studio today and organized my WIPs

I'm just going to plan to sew my AES sampler QAL blocks, my Orphan Block Odyssey quilt and use my purple scraps to make some "almost hashtag" blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt this month. I'll just hand stitch, design quilt patterns or work on my rag rug project most of the month.

 I'm also dog sitting my grandpup Leo for ten days so four dogs will keep me busy.


And on Monday hubby traded in his car and bought this fabulous Dodge Challenger which we are both loving.


But of course I haven't been able to drive it yet thanks to the broken foot? 😫😥

Dog jacket tutorial

I have made my dogs some dog jackets lately and was asked for the pattern, since all dogs are different sizes that is difficult to do, but I am going to do a tutorial showing how I did it.

This is the pattern for my medium sized dog Henry the Cockapoo, I have laid it on my cutting mat folded in half and lined up with the inch marks so that you can copy the pattern onto a grid if you would like to try this:


And this is the pattern for my small Maltipoo Ebony again it is folded in half and lined up on the inch grid so you can copy it if you would like to:

Once you have created a paper pattern you can lay it over your dog to determine if you need to enlarge the pattern or decrease the size to suit your own dog.
Then you need a piece of fabric and some batting. Any scrappy patchwork or UFO you no longer want will do fine for this or you can take the time to create a patchwork design that suits your dogs personality.
