Thrifty Thursday

2014 is off to a great start!

I have not bought any new fabric in 2014!

I have not started any new projects yet for 2014!

I have completed several WIPs & UFOs already!

So my goal for January and February which was to 'not start any new projects and to only work on WIPs and UFOs until there are no more left to clutter up my sewing space' is working out so far.

Some work so far this year

Current big project: Celtic Solstice
First Finish 2014: scrappy dog jacket

Keeping up with quilt club BOM

Christmas cushion cover a January finish LOL

Finished a cushion started in July 2013
So what is next on the list of thrifty finishes?

My Pfaff is back from repair shop so I can finally quilt this Aiming 4 Accuracy quilt that i completed in about October 2013:

Then this cushion cover I started about 2 months ago:

Then I need to cut some eye spy squares for myself and a friend Val who is also collecting eye spy fabric squares because the tub is overflowing again after a few purchases late in the year:

And once I have done all that I still won't have spent a cent yet this year on new fabric! How long that lasts we shall see...

Adventurous Quilter

  1. Congratulations on making it 9 days! LOL I hope you do well for the rest of the month, and the rest of the year.

I love the dog jacket. . . . .wish my pups would wear them, it looks like it must have been fun.

    Keep up the great work.

    1. Thanks Sherry I am glad some quilty/blogger friends can appreciate the dog jacket, because amongst my non-quilty friends I am a laughing stock ;) They all think my quilting obsession has finally driven me mad!

  2. I love, love, love the dog's jacket. I've made them from fleece and never thought of using the scraps for that. That is a great look!

    1. Thanks Fran if my quilty blogger friends can appreciate the quilted dog jacket it is worth being the laughing stock amongst my non-quilty friends!

  3. I've already broken my "no new fabric" vow. I lasted 7 days. So sad.

    1. Yeah it probably helps me to be 'new fabric free' that my son is still home from college and so I haven't been anywhere near a fabric shop LOL.

  4. Wait till ya see what I picked up over my winter break!! Cute prints!!!!

    1. Sounds great Val! Even though I have enough for two eye spy quilts already I can't resist these novelty prints, I can see me doing an eye spy a year just for fun! And they make wonderful gifts :-)

  5. I really like your Christmas cushion cover. Of course I like most all scrappy things, like Henry's new jacket! You did a beautiful job on that one!

  6. hahaha, the scrappy dog jacket is awesome. I love it.

  7. so many awesome projects! your pooch looks adorable and cozy in his jacket! I think my dog would revolt! ha!

Thanks so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!
