I am currently enjoying a 2 week road trip to Victoria in Canada. But I made sure a couple of Thrifty Thursday posts were scheduled ahead of time to keep sharing the thrifty fun.
Today I am featuring scrap usage again. Last week I made this almost twin sized quilt using scraps left over from my 2013/14 BOM quilt top which I recently completed.
I cut all the scraps into 5" x 2.5" rectangles, sewed them into strips added some blue sashing and used an old flannel sheet as the backing. I then quilted it myself on my little $200 brother using a blue variegated thread I had left over from another project.
I also had enough scrappy binding leftover from my shirrtails quilt finish a few months ago to bind this quilt.
It is as long as a twin quilt but a little narrower so I am going to use it as a dust cover on the spare bed when nobody is here to sleep in it. The dogs often like to hop on the spare bed when the door is open, so I always need to keep a cover on it that can be easily washed and packed away if our son comes home from college or family visits from Australia.
I LOVE clearing clutter like excess scraps from my sewing room! I also love making a quilt out of almost nothing!
