A finish & a problem

I finished a quilt on Friday, I can't show any close ups because the photos in the center reveal who it is for. I am really happy with the broken herringbone border and paper pieced corners:)

I have been musing about what the ugliest fabric in my stash is and have decided it is this one:

I do sort of have some plans for this gem, I am going to combine it with some other uglies I have just to get it out of my stash!!! But it will be a super quick quilt, not one I labor over for ages!

What about you? What is the fabric in your stash that you wonder why you ever bought or how it even got in your stash because you find it so distasteful?

    1. Yes what will they think of next! But imagine printing a bolt of it and expecting to sell it let alone multiple bolts! I think it was about $2 per yard and I still think I am an idiot for buying it lol!

    1. My husband suggested making a dog quilt with it because the dogs love sausages and hot dogs, LOL, I think my dogs deserve better than this VERY ugly fabric!

  4. Beautiful quilt! I love that broken herringbone border - must find a pattern for that! And yes, that is some truly ugly fabric! I've reduced my personal fabric stash recently, so no uglies in my stash to show off. Oh well! Whoop whoop for your lovely finish!

That is the tutorial I used for the herringbone border, it is easy to follow, she just makes a block but I just kept going to make them 23" long instead of 13" so they could surround my inner block:)

  5. Love your black and white quilt and the paper piecing! (You already new I love black and white though.) I have a 4 inch square or two of that hot dog fabric from an I-Spy Swap. Fabric like that is perfect for I-Spy swaps because it's something really different and fun...and not so ugly when it's in a 4 inch square. I've actually found that to be true of some other fabrics...totally ugly until you get them cut down small enough. We're going out of town in a few hours, but when I get back, I'll have to see what ugly fabric I can round up.
