A WIP Finish!

I had an awesome marathon sew day Friday and managed to actually achieve quite a bit! I finally decided to finish a WIP that has been hanging around since November 11th 2013, here's the blog post from that day: http://adventurousquilter.blogspot.com/2013/11/adventurous-piecing.html

That VW beetle block has been sitting around waiting for me to get organized! In the intervening 18mths I have decided to make a wall quilt for my sewing room with this block because it is my very first block design. So all I had to do in theory was frame it with a border, quilt and bind. Ummm yeah why the heck has this taken me soooo long!

Here it is:

I just need to hand stitch down the binding the next time to go to a quilt club sit and sew day and then I can hang it in the sewing room!

I'm really happy with the outcome. I still plan to make a VW quilt with 6 Beetles in various colors, but for now at least the prototype block is almost ready for display!

Here is the link for the blog post about the 2nd pattern test of this block: http://adventurousquilter.blogspot.com/2013/11/pattern-test-2.html if you'd like to see that again. It was a gift for my brother who owned a beige beetle when I was growing up.
