Intrinsic vs Extrinsic Motivation

Quilters create quilts for many reasons.
Intrinsic motivation:
Extrinsic motivation:
For me the type of motivation involved depends on the project. Some quilts are made as examples of a pattern I have designed and then drafted a book for. This is more extrinsically motivated because I need the quilt to market the book and therefore it feels like work.

So what kind of quilts do I make because of intrinsic motivation?

One example: scrap quilts! This is a quilt I'm currently working on just for the fun of the meditational repetitive piecing and to clear clutter in my studio!
I'm intending to focus more on quilts that I'm intrinsically motivated to make as this year progresses.
